5 Things we learnt from this spring issue

-

new attitude, new looks, new mood, new possibilities! That’s the fresh, breezy and exploratory mood of this new-season issue – starting with this page. Ready to pop on a pair of socks, bejewel your brows or revel in a floral print? Or is it modern dating, and the rise and rise of feminism that fascinate you? Either way, you’ve come to the right place to–

1 Arty everything is going to our heads

Remember when blue hair was eccentric? Now we don’t blink at every shade of the rainbow. Same thing with ombré nails and glittery lips. All of which leads to arty catwalk brows. Ready to give them a go? Please send a pic, as we love bold beauty. If, on the other (logo-manicured) hand, you prefer your makeup less extreme, see the sexy plum lips and fresh eyeliner in our ‘Get trendy!’ beauty feature.

2 Socks are stylish

It’s a trend that will mystify the men in your life (my beloved is still shaking his head in perplexity), but spring’s easy update is socks. If you simply adore a logo, see the bank about nancing a designer pair (as above). Then again, chain stores have plenty of options. For more, read ‘Knock your socks off’.

3 Florals really are fashion’s prettiest perennial

Blooms, again? That was the question when we planned shoots for this issue. Then the pics came in and our question was answered in a snap: not simply blooms again, but blooms forever. So spring, so romantic, so worth cultivating. Inspiration coming up.

4 We’re all a work in progress

You know those times when it seems as if pretty much everyone you know is more accomplished, attractive, centred and together while you’re camouflaging the mess inside your head and your heart? If so, you’re not alone. Endless psychological studies, along with ancient spiritual wisdom, point to the fact that we all have hours, days, weeks or months of feeling that way – including our apparently awless cover star, Priyanka Chopra, who’s admitted to “insecurities, wondering if people will like me, if I’m good enough”. So, reassure your aching heart and calm your self-berating mind. We’re all a work in progress – even the ones with crowns on their heads and diamond pendants dangling over their hearts!

5 Sex interviews are a thing

Once upon a time (like six years ago), the dating rule was to get to know somebody before going to bed together. Now, an increasing number of singletons see bed as the rst step in getting to know somebody, and that’s just one of the ways in which dating apps have changed our world. To swipe or not to swipe? Reflect on ‘Sex, super likes and ve years of Tinder’. Then it’s your choice entirely.
