Daolus Organic Products natural skin and haircare range.

What inspired your business idea?

These days, people are more concerned about the ingredients used to make beauty products. I already had a brand that was making natural skin products, Yivani Naturals, so it was easy for me to o er the ingredients I was using to fellow manufacturers.

How did you start out?

I met a woman from Nigeria who was selling shea butter and African black soap, and she became my supplier. When she relocated to the US, she sold her company to me.

Who develops your skincare range?

We source ingredients from farmers, extractors and distillers in SA. Our products are manufactured in-house and tested by independent laboratories.

What are your top sellers?

Shea butter, a natural topto-toe, skin-healing and hair-repairing product, which can either be used on its own or for making skin and hair products. And African black soap, a natural, handmade soap that originates from rural Nigeria, and is made from ingredients such as plantain ash, coconut pods ash, shea butter and coconut oil – it’s excellent for sensitive skin, clearing skin imperfections and easing eczema symptoms.

What goals have you set for your business?

To o er organic, natural ingredients to our clients that use the products. And to create a hub that assists and mentors our customers and the companies we work with. We add additional products to our range, in response to our clients’ needs.

What is your personal beauty mantra?

Love yourself. When it comes to skincare, don’t be afraid to go back to your roots – it’s the ingredients we dismiss that often turn out to be the healthiest for our skin.

What features do you love in other women?

Every single one. I love healthy and well-fed hair and beautiful, glowing skin on faces and bodies. I often find myself admiring well-cared-for feet, too.

What percentage of your products are organic, and how have these products contributed to the success of your business?

All of our products are wildharvested, plant-based, 100% natural and haven’t been tested on animals. We support woman-owned businesses in rural areas. We sell both natural and organic products, because some clients want to use natural products but can’t a ord to buy organic. This works best for our business.
