LIVING MY DREAM
There was a stage in my life where I wanted to be a doctor, but that ended tragically when I fainted in grade nine during a dissection of a frog. I have, however, always wanted to be an actress from the time I was in my mother’s womb, I believe God said, “I want to create another actress, and I will call her Michelle Mosalakae.” That’s all I’ve ever wanted to be.
BE INQUISITIVE
If you graduated and are aspiring to make it in TV and theatre, be inspired and educate yourself about the world around you. Being a good actor all boils down to being a well-rounded human being. Learn how to play an instrument, learn a new language – even if you’re not good at it, the pursuit and the dedication is something that will get your brain working differently. It’s all about thinking beyond yourself and your world – that’s what acting is.
MY WELLNESS AND FITNESS JOURNEY
It all boiled down to wanting to feel healthier from the inside out. I was tired of not feeling strong and healthy. I also used to suffer from IBS, and since keeping fit and healthy, I don’t suffer from it any longer. I also wanted to ensure I had good skin all year round, so I researched what I can do and eat to achieve that. It’s been one of the most exciting and liberating journeys I have ever embarked on.
BEING A SHIELD AMBASSADOR
I’m motivated more than ever before to continue being the best version of myself – physically, emotionally and socially. Shield encapsulates what it means to be fearless as a woman, to show up when you don’t want to and to keep striving for what may seem impossible. It’s about general well-being, and finding and maintaining strength from within. I’m so honoured to be part of the Shield family, and to have them recognise my journey is very encouraging.
GLOWING SKIN TIPS
Looking after my skin is important. I use the La Mer skincare range. Using their entire range, I can maintain clear, hydrated and moisturised skin all year round. Having great skin starts with having a great internal system, so drinking plenty of water is important. And sleeping on a silk pillowcase is one of my hacks for avoiding wrinkles.
SEEING MYSELF ON TV
It’s important to know where you are in your life and where you’ve come from. My life is no longer mine; I do what I do not just because I love to tell stories, but because I see how much that’s inspired girls and women. I’m paving the way for the next generation, and I’m so excited and grateful for the ability to do so.
