Inside the home of Grey Goose vodka

travelling through the French countryside, from Paris to the Cognac region, we experienced whimsical, rolling hills, old-school mills and leafy vineyards. Our final destination, the quaint southwestern town of Juillac-le-Coq, is part of the Grande Champagne region, known for its lush vineyards, churches and momentous architecture – and the most exquisite French vodka.

The home of Grey Goose, officially known as Le Logis, is a grand residence dating back to the 17th century. It’s on a hill, half an hour away from the Atlantic coast. A visit to the historical residence is

by invitation only, save for a few times a year, when Grey Goose invites friends of the brand, journalists and influencers to be fully immersed in the making of its premium vodka. Despite recent renovations, the original winding staircase and antique furniture

remains. Shades of blue can be seen in the chic interiors, a subtle nod to the brand. A warm fireplace in the stylish salon is the ideal place to wind down after sunset.

The farm-style kitchen could be described as the heart of the home, where the smell of freshly baked croissants wafts – which we enjoyed served with jam, also homemade, at breakfast time.

Vodka cocktails served with oysters was an interesting pairing, and it’s a relatively new trend. Aside from basking in the home’s warmth and eating yummy delights to our heart’s content, we were kept busy with interesting activities such as learning how to mix a range of exquisite, vodka-based cocktails, like Grey Goose’s signature Le Grand Fizz.

Vodka has long been associated with Russia, so it wasaprivilegetospendtime with François Thibault, the creator of Grey Goose, a proudly French product. Born into a family of winegrowers, François studied winemaking in Bordeaux for several years before becoming a cognac connoisseur and cellar master. François developed a new recipe for vodka in the ’90s. Now, Grey Goose is available in a range of flavours, including Le Poire, Le Citron, L’Orange and La Vanilla.

François gave us insight into the craftsmanship behind the French vodka on a tour of the vineyards. He stressed the importance of using high-quality, natural ingredients to make vodka, the most important of these ingredients that go into a bottle of Grey Goose Vodka include high-quality grain made from wheat grown in Picardy in the north of France (also used in delicious pastries), and natural spring water from Gensac-la-Pallue, close to Cognac.

On our final day, we left without a doubt that Le Logis is the perfect setting to take time out for oneself and live like you’re the special occasion, celebrating big and small moments of joy.
