WINNIE BHENGU – THUSO MBEDU

Is’thunzi introduces us to Winnie Bhengu, a cheeky, ambitious young lady with grand aspirations of marrying a rich and famous rugby player. Through her experiences, Winnie learns what it means to be young and full of potential. At the same time, she has to overcome social, cultural and financial barriers in order to make something of herself. As she struggles to navigate life’s obstacles – which are faced by many South African born-frees – viewers connect with her emotionally, supporting her through traumas and celebrating her triumphs. Thuso Mbedu was nominated for an Emmy for playing Winnie, and she’s recently been cast in a leading Hollywood role.
