On the banks of the Vaal River is the Riverside Sun, an awardwinning, renovated gem by Tsogo Sun. The hotel is just 45 minutes from the centre of Joburg, and is surrounded by rolling lawns and lush gardens. In celebration of its 40th year in operation, the Riverside Sun is fresher and brighter, aording leisure travellers and the corporate market the opportunity to get away from it all.

The hotel’s 169 rooms include a range of suites, log cabins that overlook the river and a room with paraplegic access. Twelve high-tech conference and meeting venues cater for up to 500 guests, and private functions, whisky, vodka, brandy, craft-beer and wine tastings are held in the wine cellar.

Buet breakfasts, dinners, à la carte lunches and light meals are served at the Riverview Restaurant. Guests can sip cocktails while lounging at the edge of the sparkling pool.

Meetings, conferences and team-building events are held at the hotel from Monday to Friday, and at the weekend, leisure guests pour in to escape the city.

The hotel is investing more into fun things to do for kids. During the holidays, a programme of activities is hosted by a local adventure company, which includes paintball, archery and raft building. At the weekend and on long weekends, there are bouncy castles and water slides.

Fishing enthusiasts can sit on bean bags dotted along the banks of the river, and across the river is the highly-rated Heron Banks Golf Course. The hotel even has a fitness centre.
