Get the look Cool textures, standout prints and new styling principles
Stuck in a rut? Feel instantly brighter in the season’s ultra-cool textures and prints, from light, sheer coats to retro-style boots and opalescent pearls.
We caught up with Eleni Labrou, the former creative director of Akedo who has taken a new direction and cofounded fashion brand Origin Archival (OA).
CAN YOU TELL US MORE ABOUT OA?
OA was created by myself and designer Jess Sutherland. With one fraction of the company’s focus on tailor-made classics and the other half exploring their conceptual counterparts, OA aims to guide clients through building the core of their closet, while becoming established collectors of conceptual items that express their identities.
WHAT ARE YOUR PRINCIPLES WHEN DESIGNING FOR WOMEN TODAY?
Comfort is key. If a garment doesn’t fit properly, or the fabric irritates the wearer, you won’t get long-term use of it. Longevity has become essential as more people move away from fast fashion and into sustainable fashion. Because these pieces cost more and last longer, they need to be versatile enough to be worn with an existing wardrobe.
WHAT CAN WE EXPECT FROM OA THIS YEAR?
We would like to have a limitededition selection of collaborative items by a local artist and a gallery exhibition featuring both the origin and archival collections.
