- Nontando Mposo, editor-in-chief

if you’re like most of us, you’re probably suffering from end-of-the-year fatigue. It’s been a long and overwhelming year, and some of us are still trying to catch up with our top 10 resolutions for 2020. We may not have achieved much this year, but we have a lot to be grateful for. A turning point for social and environmental change, this year saw many crucial issues bubble to the surface. This issue of Glamour broaches topics that require our undivided attention and action. In Memoirs, we feature several strong women who’ve made it their life’s mission to fight against GBV and femicide in this country, as this month marks the annual 16 Days of Activism for No Violence Against Women and Children campaign. In our Look section, we celebrate talented women designers who create some of the most beautiful accessories and jewellery. The article ‘Alternative Beauty’ is a must-read because it places every type of beauty on a pedestal, acting as an important message for our social-media-obsessed world where ideal standards of beauty reign supreme. Glamour’s Most Glamour-ous (GMG) returns this year with an exciting theme ‘The Game-changers Edition’. This successful event, which will take place next month, honours personalities who’re writing their own rules in entertainment, fashion and business. For the first time this year, our readers can vote for the personality they believe should be in our top 10. A game-changer in her field, our cover star, actress

Viola Davis, is the first Black actress to win an Oscar, an Emmy and a Tony. She’s, without a doubt, one of the most important talents of our time. Viola opens up about using her voice and platform for social change, and her role in the #Blacklivesmatter and the #Metoo movements that have shaken Hollywood and the world.
