The Body Shop’s #Acttogether campaign responds to gender-based violence.

he Body Shop is calling on South Africans to support those isolated with an abuser right now. Its #Acttogether campaign will combat the increase in domestic violence due to Covid-19, spread awareness and offer to counsel victims.

“The Body Shop has campaigned on violence against young women and girls before, but the need has never been more acute than now. The more society talks about it, the less abuse will go unnoticed,” says Carlos Jardim, general manager of The Body Shop South Africa.

During the campaign, for every hand-care product transaction, The Body Shop will donate R10 to 18twenty8, a local women-led nonpro„t organisation to help support victims, offer to counsel them and empower South African youths to take a stand.

“According to UN Women, men who witnessed or experienced violence against women as children are more likely to be violent toward their partner in an adult relationship,” he says. “Ending violence is our collective responsibility; we all have to #Acttogether to change the status quo and „ght this scourge.”

Cyber-bullying, rape, mob violence, abuse of men, women and children, bullying, sexual harassment and domestic violence are all forms of gender-based violence – and being a victim of it can make you feel alone.
