I ar­rive at En­trance Gate at about 5 pm and this time there’s a queue. Trixi Junge and her hus­band Fritz van Zyl from Hart­beespoort are in front of me. They don’t look happy. They’ve come to show the Kala­hari to fam­ily mem­bers from Ger­many, but the camp­site they’ve booked – Se­satswe – is a seven-hour drive away in the Kaa sec­tion of the park. And you’re not al­lowed to drive in the park at night. All the camp­sites in the Mabua sec­tion, which are reach­able by night­fall, are fully booked.
