Once a year we put our heads together and engage in some spirited debates to determine which vehicles made the biggest impression on us this past year – or have continued to impress us.

Go! Camp & Drive - - Front Page -

It’s that time of year again, when we decide which 4x4s we consider to be the best in their segment. But unlike other Car of the Year awards, we don’t simply look at new vehicles introduced in the past year. We consider everything that’s currently on sale in every segment, mainly because we believe that’s what you would do when buying a new vehicle. With the exception of a few segments – especially SUV of the Year – off-road capability was heavily-weighted when making our decisions. That’s because our readers don’t really care about a vehicle’s lap time around a race track. Practicality plays a much bigger role and most of our choices have better off-road capability than the other vehicles in their segment. We know that readers always discuss our choices at length, and disagree with us here and there. Just remember, we’ve driven each and every one of these vehicles as well as their competition.
