WHERE TO PITCH YOUR TENT
There is a multitude of self-catering accommodation options in Magoebaskloof, but only a handful of campsites. However, each site offers something different and caters for every different kind of camper. Here are six options for you to choose from:
1 MAGOEBASKLOOF GETAWAY There are 10 campsites (10 m x 10 m) here, each with a braai, tap and electrical outlet. Some are under the cover of trees. Why go? There are two fishing dams below the campsite that are for the exclusive use of residents (no day visitors allowed). More information: www.campingsites.co.za 2 MAGOEBASKLOOF MOUNTAIN LODGE (THE RUSKAMP) There are six campsites here with electrical outlets, shade and shared ablutions. Why go? This resort is just off the main tar pass and with its swimming pool, putt-putt course and restaurant it is a good fit for the whole family. More information: www.magoebaskloofruskamp.co.za 3 ZWAKALA RIVER RETREAT This secluded campsite on the banks of the Broederstroom River can accommodate up to 16 guests. It has an indoor kitchen area with a fireplace, a braai area and an outdoor hot water shower. Why go? This is a private campsite, so you get it all to yourself for the duration of your stay. It has a kitchen, indoor and outdoor braais, a splash pool and an open fronted bathroom overlooking the forest. Why go? You can only get to this exclusive camp in a 4x4 by climbing up a steep hill, so you have the stunning view all to yourself while you’re here. You’re so close to the water you can practically fish from your tent and you can take a guided horse ride from here into the surrounding mountains. More information: www.silvermistresort.co.za 6 BALI WILL WILL This campsite just outside Haenertsburg has 20 sites with power and shared ablutions. Some are in the shade of trees. Why go?
