Go! Camp & Drive - - Letters - GEORGE MARAIS Polokwane

For the past 15 years we’ve been camping with our off-road trailer and before that with a tent. Something struck me, especially at the SANparks. We arrive at places like Mapungubwe, Satara and Shingwedzi to spend a few days there. It’s time to choose a stand and on one of the nice shady stands there’s nothing more than a foldup table and a camping chair. You assume it’s people with a motorhome or a rally tent on the car who’s camping on this stand and they obviously went somewhere on a day trip. If you’re camping like this you don’t need all that shade during the day, and chances are good that they are going to stay only a few nights before heading off again. People who are going to be spending more time on a stand can benefit more from the shade on a stand like that. I suggest people at SANParks build stands specifically for motorhome owners. They can add a few power points and even paved areas to make it more enticing. I understand that we are all equally entitled to a stand, but maybe we can try to accommodate each other?
