15 seconds for 30 years
I refer to the December 2017 issue where Mic van Zyl says in his column that you have to idle your vehicle’s engine for 15 seconds before driving. I agree. Switch on, drive out the yard, close the gate, and drive slowly for the first few kilometres. I’ve been doing it for the past 30 years. If you do this the gearbox and differential slowly reaches its optimal temperature and the oil isn’t cold and thick.
