HAM AND CHEESE SANDWICH
Take your ham and cheese sandwich to the next level with a strong cheese sauce and mustard.
(enough for 4)
5 tablespoons butter, plus extra
2 tablespoons flour
¾ cup milk
1 tablespoon Dijon mustard
1 egg yolk
8 slices bread
4 slices ham
1 cup grated Gruyère cheese
1 Melt the butter in a pot and mix in the flour. Stir in the milk bit by bit until well combined and simmer for 3 minutes.
2 Remove from the heat and mix in the mustard and the egg yolk.
3 Divide the sauce, ham, and cheese between the 4 slices bread and top with the remaining slices.
4 Melt the remaining butter in a pan and fry the sandwiches until crisp and golden brown on both sides.
