These pita breads are just the thing to keep the hunger pangs at bay in be­tween meals at the camp­site.

In­gre­di­ents

4 pita breads 2 cans (170 g) tuna, drained ½ mini cu­cum­ber, cut into cubes 3 firm toma­toes, seeded and cut into cubes 125 ml gouda cheese, cubed 1 big gherkin, finely grated 60-80 ml may­on­naise salt, to taste

Here’s how

1 Grease a pan lightly with oil and heat up over a low flame on a gas stove. 2 Place one pita at a time in the pan and braai un­til the bot­tom is golden brown. Flip it and braai on the other side. 3 Re­move the pita from the pan and cut in half. Open the pock­ets with your fin­gers. Re­peat the process with the re­main­ing pitas. 4 Mix to­gether the tuna, cu­cum­ber, cheese and gherkin. Add some mayo and flavour to taste with salt. Dish spoon­fuls of the mix­ture into the pitas.
