Go! Drive & Camp

Thanks for going the extra mile

-

We’ve been camping at the Hartbeeshoek Nature Reserve near Brits for many years. This neat resort belongs to Braam and Mimi Bothma, and we call it our home away from home. Besides it being an excellent spot, their customer service also speaks volumes.

It was again time for a welldeserved break at Hartbeeshoek, but the night before we were due to leave, Mimi phones to tell us about possible unrest at the nearby Lethlabile and says she’ll keep us posted.

We decide to get going at

5 am to avoid any possible trouble. Shortly thereafter, we get a message from Braam to hear whether we’d already left. Ten minutes later we get a call from one Bennie Dercksen from a security company in Brits to tell us that when we get to Brits he’ll escort us to Hartbeeshoek. Things were indeed volatile, and we drove past burning tyres and two burnt-out wrecks, but we didn’t feel unsafe for one minute. Bennie came to introduce himself and we were extremely grateful for his help. A concerned Braam had organised everything beforehand and Bennie was already ready for us by 4 am.

We are truly grateful for the service, but it’s concern like this that makes us return to Hartbeeshoek year after year. To Braam, Mimi, Bennie as well as staff members Deona Becker and Heinrich Horn:

You are amazing people.
