EDITOR’S LETTER
Our magazine’s sole reason for being is to improve your camping, 4x4 and travel experiences and we are grateful for your contribution to our existence and the journey you take with us
They say two things in life are certain: death and taxes. I believe change also belongs with these two certainties, especially in these uncertain times. The only constant, as a wise person once said, is change. Nowhere is this more obvious than in the printed media which Drive & Camp is a part of. By now, you’ve probably read the announcement regarding the closures and changes to Media24’s publications. The good news is that Drive & Camp has escaped the proverbial guillotine, although our frequency will change from a monthly magazine to one that appears every two months. The first bimonthly magazine will be our October-November issue; so you can still expect your September issue next month. Although there’ll only be a new issue every second month, we’ll still be doing our special projects including the ever-popular Resort guide, 4x4 guide and Activity book. And this means that one or the other of our printed publications will be available regularly. A drastic decision like this one has far-reaching consequences and I can assure you it wasn’t taken lightly. The global economy is in tatters due to the COVID-19 pandemic and print media has been under pressure for some time already. We had no choice but to come up with a different way of doing things. On the editorial side, we still have the right people and resources to create South Africa’s leading camp and off-roading magazine. You’ll just have to wait a little longer for each issue. On that note, our subscription department will be in touch with subscribers soon to explain how it will work going forward. Since the announcement, we have received several messages of support for which we’re eternally grateful. Our magazine’s sole reason for being is to improve your camping, 4x4 and travel experiences and we are grateful for your contribution to our existence and the journey you take with us. Stay safe!
