Never too old

In January this year, my wife, Johanna, and I enjoyed a caravanning holiday at the Glensheiling Caravan Park between Howick and Mooi River in KwaZulu-Natal. Here, we had the privilege of meeting a remarkable camper: Angie Laughton, a 72-year-old pensioner and nature lover. She set up camp next to us and told us she drove all the way from Randburg in her motorhome, and that she’ll be exploring the area. Before the turn of the century, she camped with tents and then caravans – until she bought her motorhome in 2014 and joined her local motorhome club. Angie was going to the Dolphin resort in Ballito after stopping here for a while. We salute her – for her camping enthusiasm and because she does it alone. JOSEF TOLMAY Vereeniging
