In Cyril’s tracks
Paging through copies of my old Drive & Camp magazines, I was intrigued to find the article ‘4 days along the Molopo’ in the July 2019 issue. My wife, Sue, and I have travelled up there from the Cape on a number of occasions. However, few people visit Riemvasmaak, and that is what attracted my attention. In September, 2013, we camped at the Augrabies National Park before heading to Riemvasmaak. We even took our mountain bikes to ride in the kloof. That cycle up the steep hill was enjoyable, but strenuous, and not something for everyone. Like Cyril Klopper, who wrote the article, we also passed some sociable weavers’ nests on the way. Six years later, we also followed the Molope after returning from Mabuasehube in southern Botswana. MARTIN BRIGGS Onrusrivier
