PALOMAR KNOT

One of the simpler fishing knots and generally considered one of the most reliable to tie a line to a hook or fly to a leader – especially in braided lines.

There’s a variation of the Palomar that has the final loop positioned up against the shaft of the hook (we used a carabiner for illustrative purposes) instead of being pulled down further around the bight.

Step 1 Feed your line through the eye of the hook, and then back in the opposite direction, but make sure the loop is at least big enough for your hook.

Step 2 Tie an overhand knot with the doubled line and feed the hook through the loop.
