A new lapa at Steenbokkie

Steenbokkie Private Nature Reserve is a guest farm 7 km east of Beaufort West. A lapa is the latest addition to the campsite.

Jaco and Sunel Herselman from Steenbokkie host a group of hunters every year who hold a fundraiser, with the proceeds benefiting a primary school in the town. COVID-19, however, almost put a stop to this year’s fundraiser, and Jaco and his family only got two weeks’ notice that it could go ahead. They decided it was a good time to build a lapa that could serve as a place to socialise.

The lapa was built in the space of 10 days, the hunters came, and the school benefitted.

Steenbokkie has 20 stands with plenty shade. Each stand has electricity and a braai.

Price R200-R250 pn for the first two people; thereafter R50 pp (half price for children 2-12 years; free for the very young ones).
