Lead the field

-

The so-called bucktail jig is a lure you might want to take another look at. It has a long history – included in the survival packs of the special forces during World War II there was a bucktail jig and a handline. This artificial lure is therefore considered one of the most versatile and is still popular after all these years.

The jig refers to the head that is a piece of lead. The hook itself is attached to the lead, with the colourful imitation hair reminiscent of the brush of an animal’s tail. The hook’s barb sits at the back of that brush.

The lure has several applications: you can imitate small bait fish, squid and shrimp. It works just as well in shallow as in deep water, whether you’re casting from the beach or a boat. Cod and garrick are two species along our coast whose attention you’ll catch with it, but also freshwater fish including yellowfish, black bass and tigerfish will take a second look.

The corrugated bottom of the lead weight distinguishes Adrenalin’s bucktail jig from the other versions on the shelf. This roughness creates an underwater disturbance that attracts fish.
