On the outside

The new Defender is 38 cm longer and 21 cm wider than its predecessor. This is excellent news, because it means the interior is roomier. Your right shoulder and side of your head is no longer squashed up against the door while driving, and taller people who had to lean slightly forward to be able to look out the side window no longer have to in the newcomer.

Unfortunately, the 2020 model is also 359 kg heavier than before, although the more powerful engine compensates for that.

The new Defender can carry a weight of 900 kg – that’s equivalent to seven rugby forwards plus a kudu – compared to the 770 kg of the old one (here you’d have to leave behind number eight and a flanker, but the kudu could stay).

Jaguar Land Rover maintains
