A spoon of fish

-

When it comes to artificial bait, the spoon is as old as the mountains – the Nordic people apparently already used it in 800 AD. And there’s a good reason the spoon is still with us today: it works! Fishing-gear importer Adrenalin now has a special version of a spoon bait. It’s called it the LiveTarget Erratic Shiner Spoon, which is an update on the ageold one. As with the original, the Erratic is also curved, but the material is different. Traditionally, this type of lure consists of some kind of metal. As you reel it in through the water, it looks like an injured fish as the spoon reflects the light in different directions. The Erratic consists of a kind of resin and is transparent, still with a curvature. Modern technology is then used to imitate the body of an imitation fish in the middle part of the resin. This ‘fish’ therefore has a transparent bit above and below it. The predatory fish only see the shape of the fish inside the bait, while the larger bait as a whole still helps with the swimming movement. This makes the artificial bait more realistic than metal spoons, because otherwise the fish sees the outlines of the spoon, which is unnatural. With the Erratic, you attract the attention of black bass, yellowfish, trout and fish in estuaries. It is available in five colours, weighs 21 g and is 70 mm long. Price R199 each. Contact Nationwide and in Namibia, available at angling shops. Adrenalin Importers & Distributors 021 982 1510 catches@4adrenalin.co.za adrenalinfishing.co.za
