Go! Drive & Camp

Hunker down

-

The right bed will go a long way to having a good night’s rest. It might be tempting to try and tough it out on a thin foam mattress or yoga mat, but our experience advises against such an exercise. Rather invest in a quality air mattress or even a camp stretcher. Remember, the lower you are to the ground, the more likely you are to pick up an overnight cold.

The taller air mattresses and even the lower stretchers offer a buffer of air between you and the ground. You also need to make sure you’re dressed appropriately for the season, because no matter how expensive and thick your down sleeping bag is, it can’t produce heat. Layer your body appropriately to keep the warmth inside.

Speaking of which, resist the urge to not get up to go and pee, because your bladder keeps the urine warm using your body’s precious energy reserve.

Drive & Camp says Pack in a spirit level, so that you make sure your head and body are lying evenly, or that your head is positioned on the higher end at the very least to ensure optimal blood circulation.
