Hit the water

Go straight through when you encounter a puddle of water rather than creating a new track through the veld around it.

If the water is perennial, like at Moremi in Botswana, your line should be fairly obvious, but puddles on the Karoo’s back roads will dry up and if you drive around one of these, your tracks will blight the landscape for several years to come.
