Roratau Bush Camp
Roratau is part of the Leeuwgedacht Conservancy and shares a 6 km border with the southern part of Dinokeng.
The campsite belongs to Rob and Elsie du Preez – the conservancy is divided into blocks of 21,5 ha. Leeuwgedacht covers more than 1 000 ha, and about 650 ha of that is unfenced. This means that animals such as hartebeest, blue wildebeest, blesbok, zebra and giraffes roam freely. Roratau is also unfenced and antelope often graze in the campsite.
There are five stands set in the bush, and there’s plenty of shade. The stands are also quite private and you camp on a spot that’s been cleared. Each has a power point (ordinary household socket), a tap and a built-in braai area.
The pool and bathrooms are next to the stands. The pool is really just a splash pool measuring 3 x 3 m. A boma with a braai area and chairs is next door if you want to socialise.
There are two family bathrooms, each with a shower, basin and toilet in the ablution facilities.
Farther up the road are two stands great for groups: Bosvark and
Vlakvark. Bosvark has room for two caravans and Vlakvark for up to four. The former has its own bathroom and Warthog has double facilities. Price Regular stands, R400 pn per stand for four people (thereafter R50 pp, with a maximum of six people) and R200 pn for the second caravan or tent that shares the site. Bosvark costs R500 pn and R250 for the second caravan, and Warthog is R1 000 pn for the first two caravans and R350 each for the third and fourth one.
