Happy holidays, one and all
This time of year, the temptation is great to pontificate on how fast the past 12 months have flown by. And you have to guard against going on about how circumstances have radically changed for all of us since early 2020. Having said all that, it’s a fact that another year has passed, even if it sometimes feels as if you’ve barely managed to come up for air. Too much happens too fast, and before you know it, there are Christmas decorations everywhere in shops, and Boney M CDs get playtime. (I apologise for the stale Christmas decorations and Boney M references. My brain is tired this time of year...) I’ll be the first to admit that I haven’t travelled nearly enough this year. But thanks to my talented colleagues and several loyal readers, I was able to tour the pages of this magazine and some of South Africa’s (and our neighbouring countries’) most beautiful destinations every two months and learn more about interesting hidden places. I am deeply grateful for this privilege. The festive season is fast approaching, and I simply cannot wait to shut down my computer for a while and devote all my attention to my loved ones for a week or three. I’m sure you share that feeling. So take a breather over the next couple of weeks. Heaven knows, we all deserve it. On behalf of all of us at Drive & Camp, I wish you a peaceful time of good cheer, happiness, and wonderful companions. Enjoy everything and please drive carefully. We’ll chat soon. Safe travels!
