Feather for a predator

-

Artificial bait can get pretty high tech these days, and the more the bait looks like the real thing, the better the chances that you’ll fool a predatory fish. One example is the Flutter Sardine from Livetarget, a unique bait that’s the only one of its kind in the country. The outside is transparent, with a lifelike imitation of a sardine inside. The predatory fish, therefore, sees the imitation fish but not the true profile of the bait – as any unnatural shape causes the predatory fish to get, well, cold feet. The shape of the bait in the Flutter Sardine is typical of a fishing spoon. At the tail section, there’s a hook attached to a feather. The bait is meant to be used for sea fish in calmer waters – so an estuary or a lagoon. It casts quite far, and as it hits the water and descends, the feather hook creates drag and holds the hook in the ideal strike position when falling. It gives the impression of a bait fish in distress – a tasty bite for a predatory fish. It also works excellently to distract an inactive fish in cold or hot water. It might not be in the mood for a aggressive attack but could bite the feather. The bait is available in six colours, weighs 1,5 ounces, and is 75 mm long. Price R229 each.
