Go! Drive & Camp

Big Fish expands

-

Big Fish Caravan and Camping outside Jeffreys Bay has added stands and upgraded the power points. In addition to the 38 stands, the owners have set up two private stands, each with its own bathroom, on the banks of the Gamtoos River. Both have a paved slab, braai area, and their own light. The power points have a domestic socket as well as a Fredlin socket. Domestic sockets have also been installed at some of the other stands that previously only had Fredlin points. In the older section of the resort, 14 stands border the river. They’re all nicely level and on grass. Each has a tap with municipal water, plus a built-up braai area (with a grid) and a light that has its own switch. Two separate ablution blocks service these stands – with a total of 14 family bathrooms between them, and each with a dishwashing sink on the side of the building. The bathrooms have a bath or shower and a toilet.

The playpark has two trampolines, swings, seesaws, and a jungle gym. You have a beautiful view of the river from the pool. Should you want to fish from a boat, there’s a great launch site just past the last stands, but remember, you need a fishing permit. The owners are in favour of the catch-and-release rule, but if you want to eat your catch tonight, that’s fine.

Price Depending on the season, R350 pp or R550 pn per stand for up to two people and one vehicle. After that, it’s R75 pp or R100 pp (maximum six people per stand). Depending on the season, two to 16 year olds or seven to 16 year olds camp for free. The two private stands are R550R650 for the first two people.
