QUANTUM LEISURE

-

Quantum has complemented its range of six models with two new ones: its first gravelroader, the Comfort Country, and its smallest one, the Carnival.

In terms of layout, the Country is similar to the company’s Comfort Deluxe, with a few special touches. The Country’s fridge and microwave, for example, stand on rubber shock absorbers. Usually, a manufacturer will replace the cupboard doors of a gravelroader with canvas, but Jurie Pienaar, owner of Quantum, says the doors are strong enough.

Quantum builds its own chassis, and that’s also the case with the Country, says Jurie. All models have a rubber axle, but the Country gets independent D-arm suspension. The Country also has 16” wheels, compared to the 14” wheels on the others. Thanks to the suspension and tyres, the Country stands 100 mm higher off the ground.

Unlike the standard road models, the Country has a 12 V/220 V fridge (the rest get a 220 V fridge), there’s a geyser that works with electricity and gas, and you get a gas stove instead of induction hobs. And unlike other gravelroaders, the Country has a solid roof and not the pop-up type.

The new Carnival is now Quantum’s shortest model at 4,55 m. It doesn’t have a nose cone, and instead of a side door, this model has a back door. It’s also the cheapest model.

The brightly coloured interior finish is unique to the Carnival, and some of the shelves have large container bags that can zip shut.

The island bed is in the nose section, and the floor space between the bed and door is large enough for a Quantum bicycle rack with space for three bikes.

The Carnival’s GVM is 1 400 kg and the Country’s is 1 900 kg.
