A new look for an old caravan park

A year after Chris Scorer bought the wellknown Corian’s Caravan Resort on the KZN coast, the campsite has undergone several changes. Besides the new fence, a gravity-fed water system, a fresh coat of paint, and renovations to the rental home, it also has a new name: Characters Garden Park. The games room is now next to the pool, which means all the entertainment is together, right near the resort’s gate. And then three of the 60 stands each boasts a permanent tent. They’re called Rent-A-Tent – for those who don’t own their own camping equipment but still want to enjoy a camping experience. These campers are spoilt with a double bed, plus their own braai area, kitchenware, lighting, chairs, and a table. The rest of the stands have been left mostly unchanged. Chris says they want to keep the park as green as possible with plenty of grass and shade trees. Their motto, after all, is “Come back to nature”.

Pets are allowed, there is storage for caravans, and there’s a night watchman and access control. And, best of all: the beach is a mere two minutes’ walk away. Prices Depending on the season, R190 pppn (R100 for children between four and 16; R150-R190 for pensioners) up to R360 pppn (R160 for kids). Dogs cost R35 pd.
