Plea for the rhinos
It’s common knowledge that Mokala, Marakele, and Mapungubwe all have white and black rhinos.
For the sake of their safety, we have not said here where we saw them – and yes, we know rhinos roam everywhere in a park, but we don’t want to give poachers even the tiniest bit of information.
According to a 2015 census conducted by SANParks’ scientific services, the rhino population is slowly increasing, despite ongoing poaching.
If you come across rhinos in one of these parks, there’s usually a camouflaged ranger lurking with a rifle in the tall grass. It’s thanks to these committed protectors that our rhino numbers are slowly recovering. Thank you, guys!
