Go! Drive & Camp

What does the family think?

-

Here’s how my wife, Donvé, and our two teenage sons, Finn and Louis, experienced the trip…

Louis (12) is short, and the handles on the door pillars (next to you and against the roof at each door) mean you easily get in and out of the bakkie – they actually come in very handy for kids. Fourteen-year-old Finn, again, is around six foot, but even with his long legs, there’s plenty of room.

Donvé is also tall, and even with Finn behind her, they both had enough legroom.

Keeping things together while travelling isn’t always easy. We kept having to look for Louis’s PPE mask wherever we stopped. There is, however, a great storage spot in the shelf behind the front seats. But even better, there’s a fold-out hook – the perfect solution for the mask.

What the kids obviously noticed first was the absence of USB sockets for their phones. It was actually a bit of a blessing for us, to be honest, as they could look at the landscape around them. The front of the cabin has one socket.

On a long trip, the most important element is comfort. Donvé thinks the ride in the passenger seat was comfortable at all times – the same goes when you’re in the driver’s seat.
