Anniversary celebrations

The Caravan Club of Southern Africa (CSA) celebrated its 75th anniversary this past Easter.

The club, which consists of 33 regions and has a whopping member count of more than 1 000 members, gathered at Kaia Manzi outside Bronkhorstspruit. This “Rally SA” takes place every third year when all the members gather in one place. Due to various factors – including

COVID – the 2021 rally was postponed to this year.

As with the previous Rally SA in Richards Bay (2018), the ceremonial flag hoisting served as an opening even though the rainy weather tried to throw a spanner in the works. A Good Friday service followed, after which guests to participated in the Easter Egg Hunt. The rain started to really pour down on Saturday, but it didn’t dampen anyone’s enthusiasm as a large marquee tent kept out the elements. A DJ kept the vibe going with all sorts of music, plus karaoke, a Noot vir Noot tribute and bingo. Unfortunately, the rain put paid to the volleyball match.

After a weekend full of activities (and a fair amount of rain), the event closed on Sunday morning.

Russell Gibbens stepped down after seven years as president of the club, and Anton Pretorius was elected in that role. Vice President Harry Bolton also stepped down – with Machiel Myburgh his replacement.

A total of 124 caravans joined, with 359 adults and 182 children. The next national rally is planned for 2025. admin@caravanclubsa.org.za
