Where we stayed and what we drove
The L’Agulhas municipal caravan park consists of two campsites: one between holiday homes in the town centre, and a second on the shoreline. There are a total of 77 stands, and only some have power. The stands by the sea have built-up braais, but the campsite inside town doesn’t. The ablution blocks are old, but they’re clean – and toilet paper is provided.
Price R205 pn for two people (R275 in peak season). Pensioners get a 25% discount.

The ride next to our tent is a Citroën C3 Aircross we wrote about in Drive & Camp
#49. The C3 Aircross has a short wheelbase that would normally cause a vehicle to slip around and feel unstable on dirt roads, but that wasn’t the case at all with this French crossover. Its traction control worked brilliantly, and its soft suspension was a pleasure on the gravel roads.
Price R409 900 for the Aircross Feel and R429 900 for the Aircross Shine.
