Bushwakka on your bakkie
Off-road caravan manufacturer Bushwakka has just launched its first bakkie-based camper. The Kamelback is based on the company’s Sundowner Classic caravan that fits on the chassis of a Toyota Land Cruiser 79 (single cab). (Incidentally, “Kamel” is Arabic for “the perfect one”.)
The camper therefore has the same outdoor kitchen on the left and fold-out bed on the right. You also get in at the back, but Kamelback boasts a newly designed stairs. It is a retractable scissors type and works great. (It will henceforth be used on all Bushwakka’s caravans.)
The roof lifts with the typical Z-frame. As you climb inside, there’s a tabletop that folds up on the left and three spacious lockers at the back of the cabin.
The standard unit includes among others a fully equipped outdoor kitchen for four with cutlery and crockery; a twoburner gas hob; a 4,5 kg gas cylinder and gas geyser, aluminium frame with a plastic basin; a heavy-duty sliding frame with space for a 90 ℓ National Luna fridge-freezer; a 2 x 2 m fold-out mattress; three lockers inside, a side table and mirror; 12 V/220 V power system with drawers, sockets and a 100 Ah lithium battery; 30 A-DC-DC charger; an 80 ℓ stainless-steel water tank with a pump and gauge; swing-out awning; outdoor shower with basin, mirror and shower; Dorsland bumper with a swingarm for a spare wheel; and the stairs.
