LOAD LIMITATIONS

-

To determine how much you can load into and onto a vehicle, simply subtract the tare from the GVM. For example: 3 200 kg (GVM) minus 2 200 kg (tare) equals 1 000 kg (allowed load). Remember that the load includes yourself, passengers and things like the spare wheel, toolbox and fuel. If you weigh 80 kg, your spouse 60 kg, your kids 30 kg each, the dog 5 kg, a spare wheel and toolbox each 5kg and a full tank 85 kg (a total of 330 kg), the calculation would be: 1 ton permissible load minus 330 kg equalling 670 kg. If your luggage weighs more than 670 kg, the vehicle will be overloaded.
