B

With this driver’s licence, you can drive a vehicle or motorhome with a tare that doesn’t exceed 3,5 tons; or a mini-bus, bus of freight vehicle with a GVM of 3,5 tons or lighter. You’re only allowed to tow a trailer or caravan with a GVM of 750 kg or less.

C

This is the extra heavy vehicle licence for rigid vehicles like trucks and busses with a GVM of more than 16 tons. With this licence, you’re also only allowed to tow a trailer of 750 kg; and you also automatica­lly obtain Code B and C1 driver’s licences with it.

EC1

You’re permitted to drive a rigid vehicle with a GCM less than 16 tons. You’re also allowed to drive a car with a tare below 16 tons, or a minibus, bus or freight vehicle with a GVM less than 16 tons, and tow a caravan or trailer a GVM of more than 750 kg. You also obtain a Code B, C1 and EB driver’s licence with it.

C1

You’re permitted to drive a motor vehicle with a tare less than 16 tons, or a minibus, bus or freight vehicle with a GVM less than 16 tons, but you’re only permitted to tow a trailer weighing less than 750kg. With this licence, you automatica­lly get a Code B licence.

EB

You’re permitted to drive a rigid vehicle with a GVM of up to 3,5 tons. You’re also allowed to drive a car with a tare of up to 3,5 tons, or a minibus, bus or freight vehicle with a GVM of up to 3,5 tons, as well as tow a trailer or caravan with a GVM of more than 750 kg. With this licence, you also obtain a Code B driver’s licence.

EC

The big shot of rigid vehicles with a GCM of more than 16 tons. With this licence you are also permitted to drive a bus or freight vehicle with a GVM of 16 tons and above and tow a caravan or trailer with a GVM of more than 750 kg. You also automatica­lly qualify for a B, C1, C, EB and EC1 licence.
