Go! & Express

ECOTANKS COMPETITION WINNER

- AMANDA NANO

The GO! & Express ran a monthlong competition where one lucky winner stood a chance to win a massive 5,000l water tank, courtesy of ECO Tanks.

The well-deserved winner is excited 13-year-old Othandwayo Matanga, from Mdantsane.

“My mom came home with the newspaper and I thought I would enter because of the water crisis I saw in Cape Town when I went to go visit my aunt during the holidays,” Othandwayo said.

In his entry motivation, he said he would use the water from the tank to water their vegetable garden, lawn, and flowers.

He also said that having the water tank would help him to “catch water so that it doesn’t go to waste when it flows from the roof.”

His grandmother, Nokwanele Matanga, said the water tank would be very useful.

“I’m so excited, this tank will collect so much water.

“It will also help should we have water problems, and will help with watering my vegetable garden,” she said.

ECO tanks managing member Darren Hanner said the company was committed to making sure their products were safe and durable.

“Water is our most scarce resource, and never has the proper management of this resource been more important,” Hanner said.

Othandwayo’s mother, Sivuyisiwe Matanga was ecstatic at her son's achievement and had nothing but praise for him.

“I have a bright boy that will be an environmentalist or something big like that one day. He genuinely cares about the environment,” Matanga said.
