Pupils and staff from St Thomas Pre-School in King William’s Town have started their own vegetable garden where they grow a variety of produce such as tomatoes, cabbage, and onions. The idea for the garden came earlier this year during the school’s Health Week when pupils were asked where food came from and answered: ‘From the shops!’ Teachers now use the garden to teach pupils where the food on their plates comes from and how to eat healthily. The vegetables are watered with harvested rain water and are then used to provide meals to the pupils
