Old Boys Rugby Tournament funds to go to pupils
The Stor-Age Old Boys Tens are raising funds to assist disadvantaged pupils to be able to attend cultural and sporting tours.
Old Boy Sikho Jekubeni said the Stor-Age Old Boys Tens, incorporated into Stirling Old Boys, would take part in the OBX Old Boys Tens Rugby Tournament once again, to help raise funds for disadvantaged pupils.
“The event is a fundraiser for the Education Endowment Fund NPC. It will be played over two days and will feature over 30 rugby teams and about ten Old Girls netball teams.
“Last year, Siyanda Nazo initially reached out to the Stirling community to help in registering a Stirling team in the competition.
“We assembled a few Old Stirlites and we set off on a mission of flying the Stirling flag high.
“All the proceeds won went back to the school to assist disadvantaged pupils for cultural and sporting tours,” he said.
They have funded more than 12 bursaries and educational programmes in the past.
Organiser Marcel Malherbe said: “We needed to make a difference to society by making a contribution and thus came up with the idea of an event that would not just serve to raise funds but also provide the alma mater from different backgrounds with a platform to give back.”
