Sizzling with his own special recipe
After making the top 5 at the 26th annual Shoprite & Checkers Championship Boerewors Competition in 2018, Markum Lewis of Buffalo Flats is making great strides in his dreams of creating his own special recipe.
The Amalinda SPAR butchery manager has introduced his range of boerewors to the store.
Cheese wors, garlic and cheese, spinach and feta, Italian sausage, as well as chilli wors, have become a household name in the store.
Lewis said he was proud of the his recipe and his hard work.
“They are my own personal recipes. On weekends I make tons because the demand is so high. I am proud and my bosses are proud,” he said.
One of the store’s butchery staff members, Amanda Nikelo, said customers loved Lewis’s range.
“If they are not in the store, the customers complain,” she said.
Lewis said his dream was to enter MasterChef, as well as open a butchery school for the underprivileged.
