Help centre in 100km run
Join Harriers Club in Hear to Run challenge to raise funds and awareness for Carel du Toit
The Gonubie Harriers Running Club is taking part in the Hear to Run challenge over the course of September, in support of the Carel du Toit Centre.
As previously reported in the GO! & Express (‘100km challenge for Carel du Toit ’,
September 3), the Hear to Run campaign involves running a total of 100km by the end of September to honour Deaf Awareness Month and help raise funds for the centre.
As a small club, it s
“’
something nice to get involved in,” said Harriers chairperson Mandy Hatton.
Hatton said the club was happy to help raise awareness and funds for the Carel du Toit Centre and was encouraging as many members as possible to take part.
We ve put it out to the club
“’
and we re hopefully going to
’
find some sponsors who are willing to donate to the cause,” she said.
Those looking to sponsor the club can e-mail harriersgonubie @gmail.com for further details.
Hatton said even walkers could take part.
If the walkers [in the club]
“
all joined in, they could get a cumulative 100km and no one would be left out,” she said.
Anyone else keen to take part in the Hear to Run challenge can sign up for
Stravia, either on their phone app or otherwise online at www.stravia.com.
Then search for the Hear to Run group and request to join.
Once signed up, the challenge will be to complete 100km before the end of September.
Participants are also encouraged to find sponsors to help raise funds for the centre.
