Thulani Owen Nqambi, popularly known by the stage name Crazytulz, recently released a new song from the amapiano genre, titled#Gowa.

Nqambi, who was born and bred in Mdantsane, is a Kwaito house musician.

The Kwaito hitmaker is set to record his music video in NU 1 in Mdantsane on Sunday, May 29.

His latest single, #Gowa, which was released earlier in May, is receiving airplay on radio stations Kumkani FM, Mdantsane FM, Ngqushwa FM and Tru FM’s DJ mix.

Nqambi said he would be working with videographer Mr Sickwear and producer Mncedi Gwatyu on the music video.

“My first song was called Asthanga nqa, featuring the late Da boss back in 1999.

“After that I did Tulzdown, it was recorded at Tulzin music studios, and later I released my own album called Zandla phezulu, and now there is a vibe called amapiano and my new amapiano song is out, called #Gowa.

“This Sunday, I’m shooting a video in Mdantsane around a pub called Ekoneni in NU1.”

Nqambi said his fans could expect a sizzling local music video that portrayed his background and neighbourhood of Mdantsane.

He said the title of his song was inspired by the widely used term across social media platforms, as well as among the youth, when one is going through a stressful time of phase of life.

“I simply overheard people using the term Gowa when they are stressed so I thought to myself this is something I could work with, let me jump on it and do a nice song.

“And when we have done shooting the video it will be easy to trend.”

Nqambi said his most memorable moments in his musical career were meeting with national artists at events hosted through the Buffalo City Metro “especially when we used to host carnivals via BCM and nearly working with the late legendary Mandoza”.

Crazytulz mentioned how overcoming the challenges imposed by the pandemic on performers around the country had motivated him to stay focused on his music.

“I remember when I was flat broke due to circumstances in the music industry, at the time artists were not getting gigs and bookings because of Covid-19 but I stuck on to what I love the most, which is music, and eventually my music got back on radio. Now I am aiming for national platforms.”
