Organisations collaborate to raise funds
Three East London organisations have joined forces to raise much-needed funds in a fun and entertaining way.
SS Alayam, Border Badminton and Ross Helping Hands Foundation will be hosting a ladies’ brunch and a decades party at Nutting Hall in Stirling on Saturday April 27.
The financial needs of the organisations include maintenance and renovation of the various buildings, assistance with the organisation of their festivities and events, as well as acquiring supplies for the organisations’ charity work.
Rajen Naidoo of SS Alayam said this fundraising effort would result in positive benefits for all those involved.
“The collaboration among the three NPOs arose from a collective desire to enhance and uphold all three entities.
“By consolidating our resources and communities, we unlock greater potential for event support and expand
our network connections.
“This collaboration will yield mutual benefits, amplify our outreach and magnify the impact of our events within our communities and beyond,” Naidoo said.
Ross Helping Hands Foundation is a local cancer charity that helps patients and their families.
SS Alayam serves as a vital hub for religious, cultural and community activities in the
Hindu community.
Border Badminton brings people of all ages together to play badminton, and to keep active and healthy.
Border Badminton president Karen Coetzer hopes that this event will be the beginning of a long, fruitful relationship.
“Knowing all parties personally, it made sense to suggest that we do a combined fundraiser because we are working towards the same goal. If it is successful, we could even make it an annual event,” Coetzer said.
The ladies’ brunch will take place in the morning with a special guest speech by Dr Loretta Ferrucci and the decades party will take place later in the evening, hosted by Craig Ollis.
Ross Helping Hand Foundation chair Linda Jacobs has encouraged members of the public to support the initiatives.
“As a charity, we rely solely on fundraisers to ensure our doors stay open.
“So many people require assistance in our community.
“A big challenge is not having enough carers to assist patients.
“All three charities have worked well together.
“We invite everyone to come along and support the charities that are working extremely hard to continue to offer these services in East London,” Jacobs said.
Tickets for both events are available for R100 from Linda Jacobs on 072-877-4444.
