World titles tournament to be held in June, July
World Waveski Surfing Titles (WWST) proudly announces its strategic partnership with Buffalo City Tourism ahead of the 2024 event, scheduled to take place in East London from June 28 to July 7.
The competition will welcome more than 110 athletes from around the world to compete for the title of champion in the open men, open women, open adaptive and age group divisions.
Nahoon Reef is a worldclass break, and the perfect arena for the athletes to showcase their skills.
The entire event will be live streamed to ensure supporters from around the globe will have the opportunity to support their country’s representatives and watch the world’s best impress the judges.
This collaboration signifies a milestone for both entities, uniting their commitment to adventure, culture, and sporting excellence within Buffalo City.
WWST will be set against the breathtaking backdrop of Nahoon Reef within the Nahoon Nature Reserve.
Buffalo City Tourism’s involvement ensures that visitors from near and far to the WWST 2024 are encouraged to spend money on local businesses and industry, which galvanises support for the possibility of the city hosting the event in future.
Buffalo City Tourism’s Nosisa Rubushe said: “Buffalo City Tourism is thrilled to support the 2024 WWST.
“This partnership with WWST provides Buffalo City with brand exposure and enhances social cohesion.
“The event brings economic spin-offs and investment opportunities to the city, benefiting local businesses, tour guides, hotels, hawkers, security industry, B&Bs, shopping malls, and filling stations,” she said.
Sanctioned by World Waveski Surfing Association, this biennial event promises high-flying action in big powerful surf at the famous Nahoon Reef.
But it’s not just for the pros WWST will also host demo days, inviting children and adults to experience waveski surfing under the guidance of the world’s best.
“We’re excited to partner with Buffalo City Tourism,” event organiser Trystan Viaene said.
“Together, we’ll showcase East London and the greater metro to the world.”
