Thrilling racing in round two of Border Karting

-

The second round of the 2024 Border Karting season was held on April 27.

While there was a relaxed atmosphere at the track with it being a public holiday, the racing, however, was hot from the word go.

It was the first time out for two new competitors in the 4 strokes class – Akanya Mabusela, from Mthatha, in 4 Stroke Juniors, and Adrian De Coning in 4 Stroke Seniors.

Despite being away from the karting scene for some years, Adrian showed consistent speed throughout the day to take the overall victory in 4 Stroke Seniors.

Akanya, in his very first competitive kart race, showed that he was not overawed by the occasion.

Demi Potgieter deservedly won the driver of the day award as she was unbeaten, coming first in all three 4 Stroke Juniors heats. Her competitors will have some work to do if they want to beat her in 2024.

In 2 Stroke Seniors, Wade Wright took the overall win for the day.

Caleb Odendaal showed once again he is extremely competitive, dominating 2 Stroke Juniors, while also giving some 2 Stroke Seniors gray hairs.
