Unwanted heat enters your home mainly through windows and glass doors. If you cannot install shutters or a lean-to, closed blinds and curtains made of sun-block fabric could cool down your living area by up to 20˚C, and save 7% on the electricity costs of air conditioning. Tip Roman blinds have only two settings, open or closed, but they’re better at keeping out the heat than Venetian blinds, which still allow in some natural light or sun.
